  1. What is your role at Platinum and what does your day-to-day look like?
As Managing Director, my role is to keep Platinum running smoothly. My days are incredibly varied—whether it’s exploring new machinery, meeting with customers and suppliers, or planning for the future, no two days are ever the same!
  2. How long have you been working in this industry, and what drew you to it?
Officially, I’ve been in the industry for six years, but in reality, I’ve been involved since I could walk!
  3. What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love the people aspect—meeting customers, working with suppliers, and chatting with the team. I’m also a tech enthusiast, so getting hands-on with new equipment and understanding how everything works is something I really enjoy.
  4. What skills or qualities do you think are essential for success in your role?
Strong people skills and the ability to understand different perspectives are key. Being forward-thinking is also crucial—making strategic decisions that benefit our customers, employees, and the environment in the long run.
  5. What’s your favourite way to spend your free time?
With three young daughters, free time is a rare luxury! My weekends are packed with ballet, swimming, and gymnastics—keeping them active and entertained.
  6. What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
I lived in the Middle East for eight years working as an electrical engineer. It was a completely different way of life, and I loved the experience, but I’m much happier being back home with my family.
  7. Do you have a favourite travel destination or a dream place you’d like to visit?
I’ve been lucky to travel extensively in previous roles, and one of my favourite destinations is South Africa—stunning scenery, fantastic food, and great hospitality. I also have a soft spot for Oman, where I lived for three years. It’s an underrated gem with breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and welcoming locals.
  8. If you weren’t in this profession, what would you be doing?
I’d likely be back in my previous role as an electrical engineer, working in power distribution.
  9. If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you bring?
I get bored easily and love making things, so I’d bring tools to build shelter, start a fire, and hunt for food!
