The Challenge

As the announcement that the nation would be going into lockdown 3.0 as of 5th January 2021, North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) decided it was important to contact every household in the area with information regarding the Covid 19 virus and where they could get help during the lockdown period.

With 294,000 leaflets needing to be printed and delivered within one week, it was a tall order. NYCC’s print facility were unable to achieve the tight timescales and volumes needed so looked to outsource.  With a deadline enforced by Royal Mail for delivery, failure to produce and deliver on time meant long delays for the next available door drop.

The Solution

With an initial specification for the leaflet to be enclosed in an envelope, the Platinum team suggested an open mailer, saving precious time and money. This would mean the leaflets could be printed and folded in half the time by not having to enclose them in an envelope.

Due to the tight deadlines and an urgency to get the information to their residents, NYCC decided to take the advice provided by Platinum, resulting in their informative leaflet being ready on time and within budget.
