Apprentice Large Format Digital Print Operator

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Print Operator to join our team in our Sign and Display department. You will develop a broad understanding of Digital Large Format Print and finishing in our production department. Working across all equipment the apprentice will be involved in printing jobs, cutting and assembling jobs.

 

Duties will include:

  • To operate large format hybrid printers and flatbed CNC cutters along with other sign and display equipment
  • To understand job sheet instructions accurately and work in a timely manner
  • Liaise with fitters and other departments to make sure the job specification is met
  • Monitor the quality of the products, make improvements where possible and ensure deadlines are met
  • There will be also opportunities to develop other print and finishing skills in our Litho, Digital and Mailing Departments

Position
Apprentice Print Finisher

This is a great opportunity for an apprentice to develop a broad understanding of print finishing in our production department. Working across all equipment, the apprentice will be involved in finishing jobs, learning a variety of skills and techniques using our folding, stitching (booklet making), foiling and cutting equipment.

 

Duties will include:

  • Print Finishing Technicians use precision Cutting, Binding, Foiling, Laminating and Packing equipment to complete the final product for the client
  • Set up or operate machines that perform binding operations, such as pressing, folding, or trimming.
  • Inspect printed materials or other images to verify quality
  • Read works instructions to determine instructions and specifications for machine set-up
  • Adjust bindery machines, such as knives, guides or clamps, to accommodate sheets, signatures, or books of specified sizes
  • Trim edges of printed sheets to size, using cutting machines, book trimming machines, or hand cutters
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or to determine whether adjustments are needed
  • Maintain records, such as daily production records. Record operational or production data. Using MIS (Management Information System)
  • Lubricate, clean, or make minor repairs to machine parts to keep machines in working condition
  • Repair production equipment or tools
  • Prepare finished products for shipping
  • There will be also opportunities to develop other print and finishing skills in our Large Format and Mailing Departments

Experienced Litho Print Operator

With litho print experience a necessity, the right candidate will have an eye for detail, work to a high standard of quality and be able to work to timescales. Komori experience is preferable and experience as a print finisher is also a benefit but not essential as training will be given.

Key responsibilities:

  • Running our Komori B2 print machines efficiently and to the highest possible standard
  • Managing the workload to maximise uptime
  • Keeping the machine well maintained and work area clean and tidy
  • Able to give additional support in other departments such as finishing and despatch

Position
Estimator / Sales Administrator

Whilst previous experience is desirable, training will be provided if necessary. We offer time in the production environment to learn and experience the processes we use in order to gain a complete understanding of our processes to aid estimating abilities.

The successful candidate will play a fundamental role in supporting client-facing sales executives. Assisting with administrative duties, they will also support ‘the team’ in achieving their respective revenue growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Taking enquiries by email, over the phone and through internal communication
  • Producing estimates using a management information system to match enquiries taken as well as offering alternatives
  • Liaising with the internal and external sales team
  • Provide excellent customer service to regularly update customer on the process of projects
  • Other duties as and when required depending on workload

Qualities we are looking for:

  • Experience in the print industry preferable but not a necessity
  • Self-motivated and hands on, you will need to have the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong phone presence
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and manage time effectively
  • Good numeracy skills and the ability to demonstrate methodical working practice
